Whitecaps FC

Western Conference: 8th

While it was not Vancouver's best performance they gave it a good go. They faced one of the best teams in the MLS twice and had to deal with a Cascadia rival in the span of a week. One thing I have liked from all of these matches is that Vancouver's numbers were not terrible. When they played Portland they squished them, and when it came to just possession and shots against LA in both games, they were not far behind. Vanni came under some criticism when it came to rotating the squad. But in the end we ended up maintaining our playoff spot, which is all that matters now. The upcoming stretch of games are important. Austin and Colorado are directly behind us. If Vancouver could get a win streak going here it would do wonders for fan and player morale.

Whitecaps FC 2

Western Conference: 3rd

Pacific Division: 1st

Whitecaps FC 2 have had a really good start to the season. Their performances have been at a desirable level. Having such a great youth system to feed into first team does wonders for the Caps, as shown by former WFC2 players from last season Simon Becher and Ali Ahmed. So, is it possible that these players make the jump up? absolutely. As we cannot be certain as to which ones have the greatest chance yet, it seems like Vancouver may have a bit of a selection headache with this squad. The deciding factor may be if players play well when the times get tough.

Game of the Week

Altitude FC 1-1 Vancouver Football Club

Preseason Friendly

Vancouver FC have had a very good preseason, but could this be a bit of a bad spot? Even after their converted penalty, Altitude came back in the last 10 minutes with a chaotic play in front of goal to equalize. It is a wonderful accomplishment for Altitude, especially considering the struggles they had at the beginning of their season. Vancouver FC have had a good preseason, and have gone undefeated. They got wins against TSS Rovers, FC Tigers, BB5 United, Unity FC, and a premature Nautsa'mawt side that is still in the process of building. But is this blemish in their record because of overconfidence, rest, or legitimate competitiveness from Altitude? Once both of their seasons start, perhaps we will have a clearer answer.
